The Lighthouse Art Center Members Show was a big success this year. There were many new faces in the galleries and a lot of interesting work. Our own, Linda Mathison received an Honorable Mention for one of her beautiful naturally dyed pieces.

Their Children’s Show is next on the agenda and NCAA will be giving prizes on the Elementary, Middle School and High School levels. Our very capable judges will be Katy DiGioia and Karen Reinhart. We will also be granting a scholarship this month for tuition to the summer art program.

It is only in the planning stages, but, hopefully, in the fall, we will be having our own NCAA show.  The Board is looking for venues, possibly at one of the Jupiter town events. Any suggestions would be really welcomed.

I have been very pleased by the variety and depth of presenters this season.  It isn’t always easy to find new and interesting people who want to share their stories.  Luckily, Linda Mathison and I are always on the prowl around the county….We enjoy socializing with artists and groups….and it keeps us engaged as artists.

Our speaker this month will be Janeen Mason.  Janeen is quite dynamic, as many of you already know.  I asked her to tell us about her art and career. She has done a fine job at LAC and it will be fun to hear more about her.

I am off to Washington to see the new Museum of African American Art and then on to New York for the Whitney Biennial, The Frieze Show and the Met Fashion Opening.  Next month I will give
a full report!
