The opening night of Art Palm Beach seemed like an NCAA gathering!  So many members were enjoying the show that evening and it was fun meeting so many friends.  The art was wonderful and there was something special for everyone.

February brings the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art and Antique Show, February 10-16 at the Convention Center.   Art Wynwood in Miami is from February 11-15 and the Palm Beach Fine Craft Show is from February 26-28.

Do not miss the current show at the Norton Museum.  Artist, Njideka Akunyili Crosby is presenting her work in an exhibit titled: “I Refuse to be Invisible”. Her Art is amazing.  She does large figurative works on paper that include photo transfers. She is a Yale graduate and her pictures are densely thought out images from her childhood in Nigeria.

The film series this year at the Society of the Four Arts looks really interesting…check it out.

There are just too many local events to list this time of year.  We are very fortunate.

Sadly, many of us lost a dear friend this week.  Our amazing and inspirational, Virginia Furey, has passed.   She was NCAA Secretary for many years. Virginia was a Renaissance woman who brought music into our lives.  She held the most fantastic Opera lunches..with wine..and taught us so much. She was generous in her praise of her artist friends and we loved her. I have hung two paintings of "Tea with Virginia" in my studio space.

Plein air has attracted new participants this year and is going well.  Join us.  It is so nice to paint together.  Let me know if you have any good locations.

Our guest speaker this month is fiber artist, Suzanne Conners.  She will share her dyeing techniques and tell us about her workshops. Linda Mathison just attended one and the work she brought back is beautiful.

Have a great month filled with Art!  …..Oh, pay your dues...

I hope that everyone had very happy and healthy holidays and now are ready to get back to creating!!

This season we are going to plan on having Plein- Aire painting on Thursday mornings…our first session will be on January 14th at Sawfish Park at 10.  The old train station will be a great subject. I hope that many of you join in.

January also means ART PALM BEACH…the 20th-24th, at the Convention Center.   It’s a fine opportunity to see the latest trends at many of the important galleries. Also, there will be excellent lectures presented each afternoon of the fair.

Check out the winter classes and programs being offered at the Society of the Four Arts and the Norton Museum. …..just to name a few of the great opportunities for artists in our area.
It’s a busy, busy time…I love it!

Three of our members have participated in the docent program for the Manoogian Exhibit at the Lighthouse. Katy DiGioia, Joan Afman, and Dorothea Talik will take us through the exhibit at our meeting on the 11th. This should be a wonderful evening.

Please pay your $35 dues for 2016…

See you on Monday.
