Message from the editor:

The following news items were received after the December newsletter was published, if you have news to be included try to get it in during the last week of the month. Thanks! Doreen

Judith Boland-Caruso was also accepted into the Elliott Museum show and she sold her painting at the Corner Cafe! Congrats to Judy!

Also, Judy wanted to post a message about the Holiday Open House at Gallery Square North on the 11th from 7-9. Gallery Square South is also participating in the Open House. All the shops in Gallery Square South, directly across from the Lighthouse Center for the Arts, will be open and have refreshments. We're hoping people will wander over to our side of the street for some Christmas cheer!

Jane Blatt reports an opening coming up at the Hobe Sound Fine Arts League:

On Sunday, December 20, 2009, 2:00-4:00pm, Hobe Sound Fine Arts League December "Artist-of-the-Month", Evelyn Browning, will host a Christmas "Angels and Art" reception featuring her seven angel paintings, apropos of the holiday season. Ms. Browning is a multi-talented artist who will also be exhibiting her oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel art while wearing her magnificent jewelry---not to be missed. She has note cards for last-minute shoppers and will even offer door prizes for the lucky few! The Hobe Sound Fine Arts League is a non-profit organization. Therefore, all proceeds after expenses benefit Children's Outreach Programs.

December 2009

Message From the President, Gerri Aurre:

The December 14th meeting will be a Christmas party at The Village Art Studios. We'll socialize until about 7:30 and then watch the Joe LaPierre palette knife film. It should be fun. I think that I will invite Katie Dietz, the new director of the Lighthouse Center for the Arts.
December is, as always, a very busy month and this year is no exception. December 2-6 is Art Basel in Miami. This is an event that I try not to miss. In fact, I expect to drive down each day. I cannot think of any art event, ANYWHERE, that is quite so comprehensive and exciting. The show at the Convention Center is just the beginning. Art Miami is in the Wynwood District, as are so many of the other venues. Truly, it is very easy to get down there and takes about an hour and a half. Wynwood is just south on 95 and then, east on 195, take the first exit onto N.Miami Ave....and you're there.

LCA Christmas Shop is all day on Sunday, December 6th.

There will be a Holiday Open House at Gallery Square North on the 11th from 7-9. This is a very festive event that shouldn't be missed.

Our first outdoor painting session is planned at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary on Tuesday, December 8th at 12 noon. Brenda, their Master Naturalist, is great, and will show us around and help find the best spots to work. Generally, plein-aire sessions will be on Fridays, but they are busy with school groups then. There will be more destinations in January...One at a local tropical garden center.

There are two exceptional member exhibits this month:
Tess Lindsay is at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.
The Seabranch Art League has a beautiful show going on in Stuart, and many of our members are participating.

Also, Doreen Lepore's pastel painting "Dune" was accepted into the Elliott Museum show in Stuart, Reception 12/10 5:30-7:00 PM. The show runs from Dec. 11 - Jan 17.

BRA-VO will be an exhibition at the Lighthouse Center starting on January 5th. Artists are asked to bring a decorated bra for auction to benefit breast cancer research. Besides this being a very good cause, it should be alot of fun.
Pick up entry forms at LCAA or get it online.

Change art at:

Baccio's on Wed. Dec. 9th at 3:00.
