NCAA held its Board meeting on October 22 and we felt that we accomplished a number of things for the 2010 season. Everyone seemed to enjoy having lunch first at the Gallery Grill. Please remember that all members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We've established a slate of officers and will vote on them at the December meeting. If anyone is interested in helping out, we would love for you to add your name. We'll even CREATE a position for you!

Check the Lighthouse Center for the Arts website for details and entry forms for upcoming shows, such as CONTEMPO and BRA-VO: http://www.lighthousearts.org/

The CONTEMPO SHOW in January at the Lighthouse Center for the Arts is a juried show and a wonderful opportunity for our members. The deadline is early in November.
Bra-Vo details were on the blog last month and are also on their website
.
February and March: We are working on these. Any ideas?????

April: Student and Member Show at the Lighthouse Center

May: Exhibit at Molly's House in Stuart

Our November demonstrator will be Pam Carmen. Pam is an artist at the Village Art Studios and works with Polimer Clay. She does beautiful glass painting as well and I will ask her to bring these along too.

Starting this month we'll include news from the Hobe Sound Fine Arts League. Their next monthly meeting is on Monday, November 16, 2009, 7:15pm, located at the Marketplace Plaza (Winn Dixie),
8879 SE Bridge Road, Hobe Sound, FL (phone: 772-546-2946 ) Their guest artist will be the famous and gifted Hugh O'Neill. Hugh will be demonstrating using the Impressionist Palette and he will be giving a 2 day workshop Jan. 29 & 30, which is filling up fast. http://www.oneillgalleries.com/.

In December, we will be having our Christmas Party at the Village Art Studios. We will be showing a video of Joe LaPierre doing a demo of his palette knife painting technique. As soon as Joe moved into the studio, I had planned on asking him to do something for the Christmas meeting. Joe's passing has certainly been a very sad turn of events, but all of us, luckily, can still gain from Joe's fun spirit and wisdom.

The Lake Park Library Exhibit has been extended through November. We'll take it down on November 30th.

Pick up at Jupiter Town Hall will be on November 9th, between 9 and 12.
We are very fortunate that this hard working group has convinced the powers that be, that it should be moved to the Community Center. The show has MUCH more exposure in this space since all classes pass down this hall every week.

Mark Your Calendars:
Sunday, November 8th, 5:30-7:30 D'ART Cocktail Party

Call To Artists - BRA-VO

Call to Artists!

Dear Artist of the Community,

The Lighthouse Center for the Arts will be hosting Bra-Vo, an exhibition and auction
to help support the fight against breast cancer. The event is being held in honor of
our very own Evelyne Bates, who battled and won her breast cancer fight in 2008.

A portion of the gallery will be dedicated to a collection of “art bras” created by the
artists of our community. The bras will be on display from January 7 – February 11,
2010 in conjunction with the Komen Race for the Cure. At the conclusion of the
exhibition, the bras will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to benefit breast
cancer research.

We are looking for artists to commit to designing a bra for this very important cause.
The bras can be as crazy and creative or as elegant and beautiful as you wish. Visit
the link below to see examples of “art bras.”

http://www.quiltersofsc.org/artfullbras/artfullbras.htm

We want each garment to be its own piece of wearable art. Please view the
participation requirements below.

Participation Requirements

  • Artists are asked to supply their bra for decorating. LCA is not responsible for supplying your bra.

  • Bra is to be submitted on a padded satin hanger for display purposes. Artists are to supply hanger when submitting bra.
  • The displayed bras are considered a tax deductible donation to the extent of the law and all net proceeds will go to benefit breast cancer research.
  • Bras must be submitted on January 5, 2010.

  • Any bras not purchased at the auction will remain property of LCA to use for future raffles, auctions, displays, etc.
If you would like to be a part of this creative and worthy event, please fill out the
