February 2009

Letter from President, Gerri Aurre:

We're still waiting for dues from a number of people....Don't forget !!!

Many members were at the January meeting where I thoroughly enjoyed talking about Modernism in Art. It seemed timely, in that the NCAA was having its first juried Abstract Art show. This event had been planned, with the Lighthouse Center, to co-ordinate with the Modern Art being shown in January, at "Palm Beach 3" at the Convention Center.

Our three winners: Emalee Andre, Camille Babusik and Tanya Witzel have a wonderful exhibit that has been extended through March....don't miss it !

February brings the Jupiter Town Hall Show. Space is limited,so send in your applications. Work should be delivered on Monday, February 9, 9-12. The opening is on Feb. 13, 6-8. Their exhibit area has been reduced, but the Art committee has been making plans to move their shows to the Jupiter Community Center, where it will have much more public exposure.

We had a Board Meeting on January 22 and discussed becoming more involved in giving scholarships to the Lighthouse Summer Program as well as other local charitable organizations.
It was nice having Nancy Leonetti join us at the meeting. We're always looking for people with new ideas!
Please contact me if you have any thoughts on new venues for displaying our work.
Hugh O'Neil is the February demonstrator.
